Epona had been told to come to the barn to meet her assigned horse , Habib.She had worked with many wild horses on her own. Her black hair was in a pony tail , pale skiin washed in the sunlight , blue eyes hsowing nothing in them as she came into the round pen.

Habib stood on the other side of the round pin, he was shaking with fear. He was thin and beaten. He would have been a great horse if someone had been there that had cared. So there stood Habib looking at his only hope to being a normal horse. Fear gripped him as he stood at the other end of the round pen away from Epona

The thin girl herself was broken up as the stallion. One of her former best friends had raped her and now she was pregnant. That was why she had attempted to murder him. She herself had stab wounds in her chest , one straight into her heart , but she had lived.She had been stabbed a month and a half ago so it still hurt a little.Epona leaned against a fence then sat , eyes away from Habib.She said nothing and didnt move.

Habib watched the girl he was not sure what to think. Part of him told him to stay away the other want to see what this girl was about. Since he had been here people had been feedin him and givin him water. He was no longer in a stall and could see the sun shine. Slowly he made his way to her. Habib stiffed Epona, he was ready to run if she moved or talked though.

She didnt move or speak as he sniffed her.She held still , yet was not frozen , relaxed. It seemed she didnt even know he was there.

Habib took a deep whiff of her scent, human. HE land his ears back and started to back away before retreating to the other side agin. HE had know that she was not a horse but he had hope that there woul dbe food, but there was none so there was no need to trust the two-legger.

Even though she herself was human the scent of horses was on her , wild horses. But now she could not go to them.She did not catch them however.They were her friends.She stayed calm and didnt move a muscle.

Habib picked up the sent of other horses, but they were not tame like he. He breathed deep and moved closer to Epona not sure what to think part of him knew that she was human and humans were bad, but the other part told him that she smelt of horse so she must be horse. Slowly Habib made his way to Epona but in the miidle of the round pen.

The girl remained still , never moving , or looking to him.Her eyes were off in the distance , past all the buildings , the humans , her eyes a glimpse of the wild beyond.

Habib looked over his shoulder to see what the girl was looking at but all he saw was building and humans. Maybe it was becuase that was all he knew or maybe that was all he wanted to see. He went up to the girl agin and touched her softly with his nuzzle, but he was ready to run if he need to.

At the touch she still did not move.Still said nothing. Was still as a statue. Her blue eyes then fucused on him.Hurt was in them , fear , but not because of Habib at all.

Habib had only see anger, hard eyes and not untill just a few days ago had he seen eyes that had love and care in them. He didn't know that humans felt pain and feared as well. He had seen horses with those eyes back at his home. Habib had never seen a person with those feelings. He could not help but take a step closer, he was always the one the other horse took comfort in when they were together. He didn't know Epona's past nor cared to all he knew was that they had been through something horrible and he want not to be afraid anymore.

Epona finally spoke. Hello...She said so quietly she was barely able to be heard.Her voice was soft , sweet. Her blue eyes looked up again at Habib as she sat , leaning back against the fence still.

Habib took a step back at her voice not sure what to think. HE watched her as she sat down but did take a step forward. He was never much of a talker but sometimes words can't be held in. "I am scared" he said out loud, wandering if Epona could understand him.
