The mustang seemed to smile, as if it were a person, and not just a horse. Her kind eyes looked at Epona, and for the first time, noticed a hint of confusion within her.

She smiled and pet the mare's neck softly. A bandage was still over where she was stabbed as it had only been two weeks ago. She winced when she moved wrong and made it bleed.

Opal felt a pang of dishonesty as she nuzzled Epona's arm.

The horse took a step closer and brought her neck back. Her ears twitched as she heard rustling in the leaves behind her, and chirps from the birds.
Her look seemed to say, 'Do you know where you belong?'

She said nothing , ignoring the look on Opal's face. Her blue eyes were slowly , very slowly , fading away to green....

Opal snorted nervously as Epona's eyes changed. Backing away, she bumbed into the back railing.

The horse let out a heavy breath and looked toward the girl. This was no longer Epona.
The birds had stopped and it was now dead silent.

The horse started toward 'Epona' and outstreched her head, so it was inches from the girls face.
